The Lousiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Public Health Epidemiology Data Center (Epi Data Center) was formed in August 2006. It is housed within the LSUHSC- School of Public Health Epidemiology Program.
The Epi Data Center serves as a nexus for rapid and accurate data collection and distribution. The EDC works with both Louisiana State University affiliated and non-affiliated clients.
Using Teleform® v.10.1, forms are designed to match a client's specific needs. Whether collecting personal health information or environmental observations, forms comply with current national privacy information standards and protocols. Once forms have been administered, the data collection aspects of the Teleform® system are employed.
Paper forms are scanned and converted to .tif images using a Fujitsu fi-5750C scanner. These images can then be stored for use by the client and simultaneously evaluated. Electronic forms are directly stored as .tif images on a secure server to be evaluated at a regular designated interval. Superlative hand writing recognition and pixel density capabilities within the Teleform® Verifier module of the Teleform® software allow for highly accurate and very rapid data analysis. Features such as: double-key fields and always review fields afford the verifier great confidence that data is truly correct.
The Epi Data Center serves to consolidate form creation, form distribution and data capture in a highly secure and easy-to-use environment.
